Hose Cleaning

There are times when hose remains greasy and dirty for many months after a use. Particularly this occurs after an oily rubbish fire, or maybe after training evolutions that employ fuel oils and solvents.  These contaminants then get brought into new locations when the hose is stretched, as well as on the members clothing, gloves, and skin.  Some departments employ us to clean the hose so it the grime is not spread on clothing and other surfaces.  It no doubt will also help the overall useful life of the hose.

Below is a brief snyposis of our hose cleaning service:

Hose is laid out and a cleaning solution is sprayed and allowed to soak.

 Hose is then lightly scrubbed to remove surface debris.

The solution is then power-washed off with a fan-spray according to manufacturer's cleaning recommendations.

Cleaned hose is placed back on apparatus.

New apparatus hosebed layout and divider adjustment

We are always willing to assist departments in laying out their hosebeds so the hose fits and skids properly.  It is important to know the hose capacity and requirements when a new apparatus is specced. Most manufacturers determine hosebed capacity by square footage, not in real world folds and loops.  Also use caution when ordering an "ultra-low" hosebed.  Some of these designs allow for an extremely low bottom of hosebed, but due to tank design the bed may be shorter and overall finished height may be much higher than a standard long hosedbed. Remember, we stretch from the top, not the bottom. We will gladly assist truck committies when designing apparatus that carries hose. We will also adjust dividers during the annual hose test if requested.

A length is placed in each bed section to determine divider widths before securing.

 Custom Stenciling

We carry a Marsh stenciling machine in our trailier to punch out custom hose stencils on the job if desired.

Examples are: "ABC FIRE DEPARTMENT", "ENGINE 123", etc.

 

NEWS & EVENTS

We can now provide field repairs of LDH hose. No need to send hose out and wait for it to be repaired and re-tested. Upon authorization, if a length fails testing, in most cases the length can be repaired by removing the defective section and re-attaching coupling according to manufacturers specs. The hose is then retested and placed back in service immediately! We also carry new replacement couplings if needed. Contact us for more info.
